Giving is at the root of the Plymold business. Our employee-owned business was established from the philanthropic roots of our founder, Harold Nielsen, who sold his business to the employees who helped him grow it. Pete Ackerman was our COO and an employee-owner at Plymold. He helped grow and shape this company while believing that giving back was an important part of living and working in a local community. Pete truly embodied our core values. The Employee Ownership Committee is proud to announce we will be providing opportunities for qualified individuals to receive this $500 Pete Ackerman Memorial Scholarship to support plans to continue their education beyond high school. The scholarships are not awarded based on financial need or scholastic achievement; rather it provides the opportunity for financial assistance for continuing education to any student who shows leadership and community involvement in their community outside of scholastic activities.
Plymold will award two individual $500 scholarships – one is reserved for a Kenyon-Wanamingo graduating senior and one for a Plymold employee-owner or the grandchild, or dependent child of a Plymold employee-owner who is graduating from high school in 2024 and planning to attend an accredited institution offering post-secondary education and/ or career training and instruction.
Selection of the recipients will be conducted in an anonymous review of the essays by the Plymold Scholarship Committee. All decisions are final. A $500 scholarship check will be issued by Plymold directly payable to the financial institution of the student no later than September 3, 2024. The recipient is responsible to submit the necessary paperwork (tuition statement) to Plymold by August 16, 2024. Details will be included in the award letter.
Scholarship applications may be downloaded on Plymold.com after February 15, 2024.
Completed applications and personal essays must be returned to Plymold, Attn: Pam Amundson, 615 Centennial Drive, Kenyon, MN 55946 postmarked no later than April 19, 2024.
